Quarrington Hill is a village located in County Durham. Like many other villages in County Durham the main trade in Quarrington Hill was coal mining. During the 19 th century Quarrington merged with Cassop (Cassop-cum-Quarrington Hill). Quarrington Hill is located approximately 10km from the southeast of Durham which is commonly know for its limestone hills. People think that the limestone used to cement Durham Cathedral was extracted from Quarrington Hill. The residents of Quarrington shared St Pauls Church with Cassop, the church was built in 1868 and was closed during the 1980s’, the church has since been demolished.
